From the Producer

Skull of the Robot: a punk rock romantic novel of the 1980s. By Peter Gelman. Passion, philosophy, fisticuffs and word ferment.... Skull of the Robot is a podcast audiobook. Written by Peter Gelman in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, during the First Gulf War, in 1990-1991. Read by Scott Hirschberg in the mid 1990s. Recently found, the historic tapes now converted to MP3, now available here for your enjoyment or from dangerquestmysteries.com. Set in Minneapolis in the 1980s. It has a youthful, intense, poetic-industrial style, an vigorous, maximalist style in bold defiance of the period's literary age of life-hating, ennui-celebrating minimalism. Given the perspective of youth at the end of the Cold War, this novel considers the question "can we change our own nature?" through troubled love affairs, complex friendships, tumbling thoughts and word ferment.
This is a literary work with a strong, sincere, idiosyncratic voice. Due to language and situations, this novel is not appropriate for minors or people who hate art. There are 11 installments of the complete novel, plus 1 more bonus installment with hindsight commentary by Gelman and Hirschberg. Enjoy!
